About Us
Cover My Trade helps tradespeople and micro-business owners figure out what insurance their work actually requires — by state, by trade, by contract — and get covered fast when a client is waiting on a COI.
The straight-shooter rules
- We are not an insurance company, agency, or advisor. We explain how coverage works and point you to licensed providers who quote and bind. What your business needs depends on your state, your contracts, and your payroll — and every page here says so instead of pretending one answer fits everyone.
- No fake shortcuts, ever. A certificate of insurance is proof of a real policy. Anyone selling you a COI without a policy behind it is selling you a lawsuit. We will never link to anything of the kind, and we publish warnings about it.
- No loans. We do not promote merchant cash advances, working-capital loans, or any "easy financing" — that corner of small-business marketing preys on tight months, and it will never appear here.
- Honest numbers. Premium figures on this site are sampled ranges with dates on them, not teaser rates. Your quote is your quote.
How we make money
Some links pay us a commission when you request a quote or buy a policy — clearly marked, never required, and never affecting your price. Plenty of what we publish (state requirement tables, the COI explainer) earns us nothing and exists because you needed it by Friday.
Our pages are researched and maintained by the Cover My Trade editorial team. Corrections are welcome at hello@covermytrade.com.
Advertiser disclosure: Cover My Trade may earn a commission when you request a quote or buy a policy through links on this site. It never changes your premium, and it never changes our editorial read — coverage requirements depend on your state, your contracts, and your payroll, and we say so on every page.
